Music lovers to be given prom treat

MUSIC lovers are in for a treat next week as talented young musicians take to the stage for a 'Prom in the Park' at the Hambleton Leisure Centre in Northallerton.
The event on Thursday evening will feature a performance by the band of Whitby Music Centre – a group of some 50 younsters aged between 10 and 17 who play everything from folk to jazz and classics to film scores.
Also on the bill is the renowned Northern Chamber Orchestra from Manchester.
There is more music the following evening when Ro:toro, a four piece band from Estonia, will be performing at the same venue on their first visit to the UK.
Both concerts start at 7pm and tickets are £7, concessions and children £3.50, family £15; or get a ticket for both at £12, £6 and £25. Tickets are available from www.cultureshockfestival.co.uk, or on the door.
The events are part of the CultureShock music festival organised by North Yorkshire County Council’s Connecting Youth Culture team.
