EAST Thirsk is hosting a special crime surgery today when local people can chat to crimefighters at a special street safe surgery being held in the Mobile Police Office at Hambleton Avenue.
Advice on a wide range of subjects will be available – from anti-social behaviour to the theft of lead piping and flytipping. Members of the Thirsk Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team will be joined by representatives from a host of agencies to answer local concerns and issues.

“These surgeries give members of the public a chance to talk to us in a more relaxed atmosphere,” said Geoff Lodge, Anti-Social Behaviour Officer.

“We rely on the public to tell us what concerns them and this is a good way to do just that. And if anyone wants to talk confidentially that can also be arranged.”

The policing team will also offer advice on property marking during the event. And anyone wishing to have their bike, garden furniture or tools postcode marked should bring it along to the roadshow.

Low cost shed alarms, timers and personal alarms will also be on sale at the event.

The surgery takes place from 10am until 4pm.
