Nidd Valley out in force at Grand Prix

NIDD VALLEY ROAD RUNNERS had four club members competing in the Veteran Grand Prix race at Meanwood on Tuesday June 17.
The course was just under five miles long, and first back was Eric Morley in 33.43.

Not far behind was Sue Morley in 35.04 who won the prize for first female vet over 50.

Kath Moores and Lyn Eden successfully completed the course together in 45
.52.

Tthe fourth race in the Harrogate and District Summer Road Race league took place on the same day, organised by the Leeds and Bradford Triathlon club.

Fifteen members ran the 5.9 mile course along the railway line from Garforth towards Kippax.

James Clayson was home first in a speedy 35.18, and was closely followed by Colin Fletcher 35.39, Andy Todd 35.48, Harry Dowdell 37.07, Mike Deacon 37.54, Ian McLeod 38.34, Dave Cardani 39.28, and Simon Smith 39.35.

First lady in for Nidd Valley was Carol Morgan in 39.39, and then there was Rob Snow 40.48, Fiona Deacon 41.15, Brian Sherwood 42.23, Emma Kicks 43.44, Steve Newton 44.18, Sheena Jackson 44.19, Janet Carling 49.04, and Michelle Smith 53.22.

On Saturday Phil Robinson raced the "Reservoir Bogs" fell race on the moors above Hebden Bridge.

This challenge was eight miles with 1,200 ft of ascent, and navigation required over pathless tussocks, turks heads and bogs.

Phil finished in a fantastic time of one hour 35 minutes. Meanwhile, Phil's son, Alex Robinson, competed in the U-8s category and was thrilled to finish third.
