RACE Four of the Harrogate League season took place at Garforth last week, with 238 runners competing over a rather uninspiring out and back course.
Jon Orange of Richmond and Zetland won the event in 30.56, with THIRSK AND SOWERBY HARRIERS Dusan Svoboda running well to finish 37th in 36.26.

Hester Cox, hard working as ever, was 93rd in 40.32, ever-present David Barker 115th in 42.02, Tom Thom
pson 128th in 43.24, along with another runner and David Shorrocks also given a finishing time of 43.24, Pat Kirby 162nd in 46.14, Richard Easby 203rd in 51.08, Sharon Keegan 213th in 53.06, Ian Codling 218th in 54.16, Phillip Craig 232nd in in 58.41 and Marian Codling 235th in 60.21.

In an unfortunate clash of fixtures, the latest Fell race, the Whorlton Run, took place on the same warm evening.

Cameron Choules is in excellent form just now, and after a very good effort at Castle Howard two days earlier, came a splendid 10th in 47.20.

Stewart Mechie, showing real consistency, came 16th in 49.26, Pete Wilkin 27th in 52.28, Les Sutton-Haigh 33rd in 53.41, and Gavin Coventry 35th in 54.28.

A blanket finish saw four runners coming in within 3 seconds, of which Mark Ludiman was given 56th in 60.13, Hywel Smith 57th in 60.14 and new member Hristo Ibrishimov 58th in 60.15. Nik Sutton-Haigh and Yvonne Wood finished together in 77th place in 83.32.

Jill Knight was one of 11,000 runners who took part in the Jane Tomlinson 10k at Leeds on Sunday, in wild and windy conditions.

Jane's son, Steven, started the race and had all the runners performing a Mexican Wave beforehand, which was quite a spectacle on Leeds Headrow.

The accurate results are not yet to hand, but Jill was well pleased with her time of under 50 minutes for the out and back race.
